Rajib Chanda Quoted in Ignites on Clean Shares

09.13.17

Corporate Partner Rajib Chanda was quoted in Ignites, a Financial Times news service, on recently approved so-called clean shares. Clean shares, which are named for their lack of built-in sales or marketing charges, provide investors a more transparent view of what they are paying for. Though clean shares have gained favor among fund providers since being approved by the SEC in January, many are asking for the SEC to provide a more streamlined definition of clean shares, arguing that they may not be “clean” enough. Rajib, however, expects it is unlikely that the SEC will “get into this level of definitional regulation,” particularly because the SEC has previously examined in-depth the payment of sub-TA fees.
