From July 10 to 13, Simpson Thacher hosted eight tenth-grade interns as part of the Legal Outreach program. Legal Outreach is a non-profit organization that uses a legal curriculum to prepare urban youth from underserved communities to compete at high academic levels through intensive educational programs. Simpson Thacher has participated in the Legal Outreach program since 1997. This year, the students handled a mock trademark and trade dress infringement case that required them to take part in negotiations, conduct depositions, write client memos and conduct a hearing before a judge. More than 50 Simpson Thacher summer associates, interns, administrative staff members and attorneys served as mentors, team leaders, coaches and role players throughout the week. The program was organized by Litigation Associates Randy Moonan and May Mansour and Paralegal Stephanie Crosskey.
