Litigation Partner Joe McLaughlin was featured in The Am Law Litigation Daily on May 19, 2017 for securing two significant wins in the same week. The article, titled “Shout-Out: A Pair of Wins for Simpson Thacher Class Action Star,” summarized two victories Joe secured in separate high-profile cases. The article described Joe’s successfully fending off class certification in a federal securities case filed against client Virtus Investment Partners. He also was lauded for earning an appellate win on behalf of Countrywide Home Loans Inc., reversing an unfavorable trial court decision in a residential mortgage backed securities case. Separately, Law360 also praised Joe and the Simpson Thacher team for its win in the Countrywide case in its weekly “Legal Lions & Lambs” column, which appeared on May 18, 2017.
