A U.S. permanent resident originally from Iran suffered a stroke and brain bleed, leaving him in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Stanford Hospital. Simpson Thacher attorneys, working pro bono, successfully helped the patient’s brother—the patient’s closest living relative—obtain an emergency visa to come from Iran to the U.S. to make medical decisions on his brother’s behalf and provide emotional and physical support. Associates Jonathan Mincer, Linda Nyberg and Andrew Simon-Rooke assisted in the effort.
