Simpson Thacher represented Minsur S.A. (“Minsur”) and its subsidiary Cumbres Andinas S.A. in connection with the acquisition of a 30% stake in Marcobre S.A.C. from KLS Limited, an entity owned by Korean companies Korea Resources and LS Nikko Copper. Marcobre owns the Mina Justa copper mining project, which is located south of Lima (Peru). As a result of the acquisition, Minsur and its subsidiaries now own all of the shares of Marcobre. Minsur is a leading Peruvian mining company and the principal mining arm of Grupo Breca, one of the largest economic conglomerates in Peru.
