Corporate Partner Brian Stadler was quoted in a Law360 article, “October M&A Activity Lags As Megamergers Buoy Deal Value,” which discussed M&A deal activity during October 2016. According to the article, the number of transactions announced globally has declined throughout 2016, even as a series of megadeals helped skyrocket October deal value toward record highs. Brian observed, “Coming off a very strong 2015, we weren’t surprised to see a slower first half of the year. There were factors such as the Treasury’s adoption of rules restricting inversions and the uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the U.S. elections that contributed to the softening of the market.” While it is impossible to predict the future, Brian noted that “M&A markets are cyclical. And we may be in the late innings.”
