The Firm hosted an Independent Directors Council chapter meeting on October 4, which included a roundtable of independent directors from over 20 different mutual fund complexes. Partners and Associates from Simpson Thacher presented on various topics related to recent developments relating to mutual fund boards. Corporate Partner Rajib Chanda presented on board independence issues and Corporate Partner Sarah Cogan reported on the recent AXA Equitable excessive fees litigation. Corporate Associate Ben Wells led presentations on the role of boards in reviewing fund structures (open-end versus closed-end) and cybersecurity issues relating to online board portals, respectively.
