On June 16, Simpson Thacher’s New York Office hosted New Visions for Public Schools’ High Achievers Event. The program was designed to bring together 11th graders who have excelled academically and are interested in learning how to apply to competitive colleges. Thirty-five high school students from New Visions schools met college representatives from Baruch College, Binghamton University, Columbia University, CUNY Macaulay Honors, Dartmouth College, Syracuse University and The University of Pennsylvania. The students participated in a college fair, mock interviews and a panel discussion where they received insider tips on the college application process, college life and financial aid. Richard I. Beattie, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of New Visions, was joined by Urban Education Coordinator Kristin Glaudel in hosting the event.
