Exempt Organizations Partner David Shevlin and Exempt Organizations Counsel Jennifer Reynoso spoke at the 33rd Representing and Managing Tax Exempt Organizations Conference in Washington, D.C. on April 27 and 28. David spoke on two panels, “Developing and Implementing an MRI Investment Policy” and “Update on DAFs and Supporting Organizations.” The first panel addressed what goes into an MRI (Mission Related Investment) policy, the critical requirements of a policy and the key steps to implementing an MRI strategy. The second panel focused on key rules, complex issues and creative uses of DAFs (Donor Advised Funds) and supporting organizations.
Jennifer’s panel, “Charitable Lobbying Update,” discussed lobbying for electing and non-electing charities, working with private foundation funders, record-keeping and Lobbying Disclosure Act and state registration and disclosure requirements.
