Simpson Thacher was recently named Best Law Firm at FinanceAsia’s Japan Achievement Awards 2015/2016 for its leading corporate practice in the region. The awards honor banks and law firms for excellence in cross-border deal-making during the period from April 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016.

The Firm was also involved in the Deal of the Year and Best ECM Deal of the Year for its representation of the international joint lead managers in the ¥1.4 trillion (US$11.6 billion) concurrent IPOs of Japan Post Holdings and its subsidiaries Japan Post Bank and Japan Post Insurance. In addition, the Firm was also involved in the Best Private Equity Deal of the Year for its representation of Goldman Sachs in the sale of 51% of Universal Studios Japan for $1.5 billion by a group led by Goldman Sachs to Comcast NBCUniversal.
