Litigation Partner David Woll and the Simpson Thacher team received a National Impact Case Award at the 2016 Benchmark Litigation Awards for their victory in a closely-watched appeal in the New York Court of Appeals on behalf of DB Structured Products, Inc. The Court of Appeals affirmed a unanimous ruling by the Appellate Division, First Department, dismissing as time-barred a suit alleging breaches of representations and warranties with respect to several hundred millions of dollars in mortgage loans.

In addition, the Firm received the National Insurance Practice of the Year award and was shortlisted for the New York and Antitrust National Practice awards. Litigation Partner Mary Beth Forshaw received the Insurance Lawyer of the Year award. David Woll was also shortlisted for both the Trial Lawyer of the Year award and the General Commercial Lawyer of the Year award.

The Benchmark Litigation Awards honors those firms and attorneys that have emerged as leaders in their particular areas of law over the past 12 months.
