Simpson Thacher Elects Nine New Partners

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced that it has elected nine attorneys as members of the Firm effective January 1, 2016. The new partners are:

David Azarkh (New York) - David focuses his practice on capital markets, securities and corporate governance matters. He represents major investment banks, large corporate issuers and private equity sponsors in connection with securities offerings ranging from initial public offerings, 144A high yield debt offerings, leveraged buyouts, permanent capital vehicle structures, registered follow-on and secondary offerings, tender offers and commitment letters. David  received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2006 from Georgetown University Law Center where he was Editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Law and elected to Order of the Coif. He received his B.A., summa cum laude, in 2002 from Boston University where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Carol Daniel (London) - Carol concentrates her practice on U.S. capital markets transactions. Carol has extensive experience working for private equity sponsors, issuers and underwriters on their high yield bond offerings, restructurings, initial public offerings and other corporate finance transactions. She has also represented corporations and private equity sponsors in a variety of leveraged buyouts transactions, as well as general corporate and securities law matters. She received her LL.B and her B Com degrees from the University of New South Wales in 2005.

Susannah Geltman (New York) - Susannah represents clients in a broad range of high-stakes litigation matters including securities, class action, insurance and reinsurance coverage and shareholder derivative disputes. She has extensive trial and arbitration experience. Susannah received her J.D., cum laude, in 2006 from Cornell Law School where she was an editor of the Cornell Law Review. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Cornell University in 2003.

Brian Gluck (New York) - Brian concentrates his practice on banking, credit and acquisition finance. He regularly advises leading leveraged buyout sponsors and their portfolio companies in connection with a variety of corporate finance transactions, including acquisition financing, bank and bridge loan financings and refinancings. Brian received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School as well as a certificate in business and public policy from the Wharton School of Business in 2006. He earned a B.S. degree, summa cum laude, from Yeshiva University in 2003.

Jonathan Lindabury (New York) - Jonathan’s practice is focused on derivatives. He advises investment banks, private equity funds and corporations in the structuring, negotiation and execution of derivative transactions, and provides regulatory analysis and advice on related matters. Jonathan received his J.D. in 2000 from Columbia Law School where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1995. Jonathan was a Senior Counsel at the Firm prior to his election as a partner.

Wheatly MacNamara (London) - Wheatly is a member of the Firm’s real estate department. Her areas of concentration are private equity real estate acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures. She received her J.D. in 2005 from Stanford Law School where she was an editor of the Stanford Law Review and the Stanford Journal of International Law. She received a B.A. and B.S. degree from Duke University in 2001.

Seema Shah (London) - Seema is a member of the Firm’s private funds practice. Her practice focuses on the sponsoring and operation of private investment funds, and other aspects of private investing in alternative asset classes. Seema received her B.A., with Honors, from the University of Cambridge in 2003 and a Diploma in Legal Practice in 2004 from Nottingham Law School.

Sebastian Tiller (New York) - Sebastian concentrates his practice on merger and acquisition transactions and corporate governance matters. He regularly represents corporations and private equity firms. Sebastian received his LL.M from New York University School of Law in 2005 where he was a Vanderbilt Scholar. He received a J.D. equivalent in 2001 and a Ph.D. equivalent, summa cum laude, in 2005, from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He also received his Licence en Droit, mention très bien, in 1998 from Université Paris II - Pantheon Assas.

Jessica Tuchinsky (New York) - Jessica focuses her practice on banking and credit. She represents lenders and arrangers in syndicated loan financings, with a focus on acquisition financings. Jessica received her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and her B.A., summa cum laude, in 2002 from the University of Pennsylvania where she was a University Trustee Scholar.
