Simpson Thacher was recognized by Law360 as Capital Markets Group of the Year for 2014. The practice group was acknowledged for their work spanning from debt to equity and from cross-border initial public offerings to private equity exits, including the Firm’s work on the Alibaba Group and Hilton Worldwide IPOs.
The article notes that “while the big-dollar IPO and debt offerings are often the ones to make headlines, the law firm works on offerings of all sizes, with many deals ongoing at any given time thanks to the law firm’s deep bench, which allows it to field a team for deals as large as the Hilton or Alibaba IPOs but still have the resources to staff other transactions.”
The Firm was also recognized for the sheer volume of deals handled, citing Simpson Thacher’s ranking as the top issuer law firm by both deal size and deal volume every year from 2009 through 2013, according to Thomson Reuters.
In addition, Simpson Thacher was named Private Equity Group of the Year and Real Estate Group of the Year for 2014.
