Simpson Thacher Pro Bono Counsel Harlene Katzman was elected as President of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo) as of January 1. Having served for four years on the Board of Directors of APBCo, Harlene played an integral role in the development of APBCo’s IMPACT Project, an initiative born out of two meetings she attended at the White House with Vice President Joe Biden and other law firm pro bono leaders. She and attorneys from the Firm have been involved with three of the IMPACT pro bono projects: Small Business Legal Academy and the Homeless Youth Clinic in New York City, and the Jenesse Center Legal Clinic in Los Angeles.
APBCo is dedicated to maximizing access to justice through the delivery of pro bono legal services by advancing the model of the full-time law firm pro bono counsel; supporting and enhancing the professional development of pro bono counsel; and serving as the voice of the law firm pro bono community.
