Palo Alto Corporate Partner Rich Capelouto has been named one of the 2014 Top 100 Lawyers in California by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal. He is recognized for heading a team of 80 attorneys that handle some of the most complex and involved corporate transactions. With regards to private equity dealmaking, Rich commented, “You need M&A attorneys, but you also need expertise in terms of debt financing, high-yield debt, bank debt, tax structuring and employee benefits and compensation.”

In the Daily Journal profile, Rich is acknowledged for leading the Simpson Thacher team representing Silver Lake Partners in the $24.9 billion deal that took Dell Inc. private last year. He added, “We were responsible for negotiating the terms with Dell’s special committee, we were the lead in negotiating the debt financing arrangements, plus we were responsible for taking the lead in the arrangements with Dell’s board management.”
