From July 14-17, 2014, Simpson Thacher hosted eight tenth-grade interns as part of the Legal Outreach program. Legal Outreach is a non-profit organization that prepares urban youth from underserved communities to compete at high academic levels through intensive educational programs with particular emphasis on the law. Simpson Thacher has participated in the Legal Outreach program since 1997. This year, the students handled a mock trademark and trade dress infringement case that required them to take part in negotiations, conduct depositions, write client memos and participate in a hearing before a judge. More than 40 Simpson summer associates, interns, administrative staff members and attorneys served as mentors, team leaders, coaches and role players throughout the week. The program was organized by litigation associates Whytne Brooks, Omari Mason and Linton Mann III, and paralegal Stephanie Crosskey
