Simpson Thacher represented Schulze Global Investments Limited in the formation of the first ever Ethiopia-focused private equity fund, Schulze Global Ethiopia Growth and Transformation Fund I, L.P. (the “Fund”). With approximately $85 million in capital commitments, the Fund held its final close on March 21, 2014. The Fund aims to generate superior capital appreciation and positive impacts beyond financial returns through investments in or related to Ethiopia, in accordance with strict social, environmental and governance criteria and to achieve long-term sustainable development through its investments, in partnership with its development finance institution and other investors.
