The Firm was named Equity Team of the Year at the 2014 IFLR’s Americas Awards for our work on numerous, innovative IPOs and other equity deals in 2013, including Biosev’s IPO which also earned the Equity Deal of the Year award.  Simpson Thacher advised Biosev S.A. with respect to U.S. law in connection with its R$677.5 million (US$332.2 million) initial public offering registered in Brazil. Biosev was the first Brazilian company to offer combined securities designed to afford investors a divestment option with a premium of a pre-negotiated minimum investment return.  For more information on this transaction, please click here.

The Firm also received the M&A Deal of the Year award for its representation of Smithfield Foods with respect to U.S. law in connection with Smithfield’s $7.1 billion strategic combination with Shuanghui International Holdings Limited. In addition, the Firm won Debt and Equity-Linked Deal of the Year for our representation of Hilton Worldwide Holdings in its recent high yield bond issuance completed in connection with its $2.7 billion IPO, which was the largest in history by a hospitality company and the second largest U.S. IPO of 2013.
