Simpson Thacher successfully represented a 21-year-old woman from Burkina Faso who was threatened with female genital mutilation and forced marriage. The client, who had been abused by her father and abandoned by her mother, escaped to the United States and was granted Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and legal permanent residency. The client is now living in safety with her sister and attending school.
