Simpson Thacher Pro Bono Counsel Harlene Katzman was elected to the 2014 Board of Directors of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo) as Vice President. Having been a member of APBCo for several years and now on the Board for her third consecutive year, Ms. Katzman played an integral role in the development of APBCo’s IMPACT Project, an initiative born out of a 2012 meeting she and litigation partner Bryce Friedman attended at the White House with Vice President Joe Biden and other law firm pro bono leaders. She and several attorneys from the Firm have been involved with two of the IMPACT pro bono projects: Small Business Legal Academy and the Homeless Youth Clinic.
APBCo is dedicated to maximizing access to justice through the delivery of pro bono legal services by advancing the model of the full-time law firm pro bono counsel; supporting and enhancing the professional development of pro bono counsel; and serving as the voice of the law firm pro bono community.
