Simpson Thacher Represents the Underwriters in $750 Million Debt Offering by Berkshire Hathaway Finance Corporation

The Firm represented BofA Merrill Lynch, Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Wells Fargo Securities in the public offering of $750 million of debt securities of Berkshire Hathaway Finance Corporation (“BHFC”), which will be guaranteed by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (“Berkshire”), consisting of $650,000,000 of Floating Rate Senior Notes due 2017 and an additional $100,000,000 of its previously issued 2.000% Senior Notes due 2018.

 

BHFC used the net proceeds from the offering to pay at maturity its existing Floating Rate Senior Notes due January 10, 2014 and 1.500% Senior Notes due January 10, 2014.

 

Berkshire and its subsidiaries engage in a number of diverse business activities including property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, freight rail transportation, utilities and energy, finance, manufacturing, services and retailing. Berkshire’s common stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, trading symbols BRK.A and BRK.B.
