Palo Alto associate Michelle Morad secured Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and Legal Permanent Residency for a Honduran youth who came to the United States after being abandoned by her parents at a young age. The client was granted immigration relief by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services based upon the Contra Costa County Superior Court's finding that reunification with the client’s parents was not a viable option due to abandonment and return to Honduras would not be in her best interest. In tandem, the client applied for and was granted Legal Permanent Residency. Jim Kreissman supervised the matter, referred by Legal Services for Children in San Francisco.
