Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP hosted a reception for Latino/a lawyers and law students on June 18th in partnership with the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and its Region II (New York) leadership team. The reception honored the Latino/a federal judges of the E.D.N.Y. and the S.D.N.Y.: The Honorable Dora L. Irizarry, Arlene R. Lindsay, Victor Marrero, Edgardo Ramos, Ramon E. Reyes, Jr., Nelson Roman and Analisa Torres who all attended the reception and were introduced by law students. Several guest judges from the New York State Courts were also in attendance. Simpson Thacher partner Jaime Mercado and HNBA New York Region President Robert T. Maldonado gave welcoming remarks. The Honorable Dora L. Irizarry gave a keynote address that focused on the importance of diversity on the bench. Judge Irizarry also shared advice for the many law students in attendance. HNBA National President-Elect Miguel Alexander Pozo gave closing remarks.
