On May 23, the New York office again hosted 12 sixth-grade students from the Global Technology Preparatory Middle School for a mock trial as part of the Firm’s Urban Education Initiative (“UEI”). The students participated in a program sponsored by Citizen Schools New York, an organization which partners with middle schools to expand the learning day through after-school enrichment programs. Over a 12-week period, they worked on a mock trial curriculum developed by retired partner Ken Logan, with assistance from Assistant Roxanne Grimm, Senior Benefits Specialist Stefanie Klovsky, and Litigation associate Patrick Shilling. Litigation partner William Russell presided over the mock trial, with UEI Coordinator Sabrina Carreras serving as the marshal. Seven additional Simpson Thacher volunteers served on the jury pool.
