Simpson Thacher received the Award for Excellence in Insurance conferred by Chambers & Partners at its annual U.S.-based awards ceremony held on June 24, 2013 in New York City. This marks the third time the Firm’s Insurance Practice has received this Award. The Firm received this award in 2012 and in 2009.

The Award recognizes the Firm's work on behalf insurers and reinsurers. Chambers & Partners describe Simpson Thacher 's Insurance Practice as having a “stellar reputation” and being a “star firm in the nationwide insurance market.” Chambers & Partners has ranked the Firm’s Insurance Practice “Band One” for Insurance: Dispute Resolution: Insurer for New York since 2006 and for Nationwide since 2007. Partners Barry Ostrager and Mary Kay Vyskocil have also been consistently ranked “Band One” in Insurance: Dispute Resolution: Insurer (Nationwide and New York) and Insurance: Dispute Resolution: Reinsurance categories. Partner Andrew Amer also ranks in Chambers as “Band Two” for Insurance: Dispute Resolution: Insurer for New York.

In addition, the firm's Investment Management Practice was a finalist for the Award for Excellence in Investment Funds.

The leading law firms are selected based on research collected for the annual Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business legal directory, in which many of the Firm's attorneys and practice areas received top tier rankings.
