The Firm's London office was named Private Equity Team of the Year at the 2013 Awards for Excellence in Legal Services - Europe by Financial News, a Dow Jones company.  Simpson Thacher was recognized for its global “private equity prowess” and the publication noted that the Firm “continues to make great strides in developing its practice in the UK and Europe.”  Financial News also highlighted several recent transactions, including the representation of: Apax Partners in its approximately CHF 2 billion acquisition of Orange Communications SA; an affiliate of Blackstone Capital Partners VI in its €675 million acquisition of Dutch tax consultancy Intertrust Group; and KKR and Alliance Boots in the sale of a 45% equity stake in Walgreens in a cash-and-stock deal valued at approximately $6.7 billion.

The awards highlighted the industry's leading lawyers for excellence in strategy, innovation and performance, and were judged by a panel of more than 60 high-profile in-house lawyers, investment bankers, fund managers and law firm partners.
