Firm and Individual Honors Go Back

Simpson Thacher Receives Morgan Stanley’s 2012 LEID Award

01.09.13
On January 8, Simpson Thacher received the 2012 Leadership and Excellence in Inclusion and Diversity (”LEID”) Award, given annually by Morgan Stanley’s Legal and Compliance Division to one of its outside counsel.  The award recognizes law firms on the diversity of their lawyers generally and the attorneys working on Morgan Stanley matters in particular, as well as on the extent to which they meaningfully promote diversity within their own workplaces and communities.  Simpson Thacher was selected from approximately 40 law firms based on a detailed survey of diversity practices and programs.  Among other things, Morgan Stanley cited Simpson Thacher’s efforts, past and present, to explore novel ways to promote diversity, including the Firm’s Urban Education Initiative, which has brought over 600 public school students to the Firm for programs involving over 350 Simpson Thacher volunteers.  The LEID award was presented by Morgan Stanley’s Chief Legal Officer, Eric F. Grossman, and was accepted by Litigation partner Bruce D. Angiolillo on behalf of the Firm.
