Todd Crider spoke at conference co-sponsored by the Cyrus Vance Center for International Justice and Fundacion Pro Bono of Chile at the Organization of American States in Washington D.C., about the organization of the private bar to provide resources and support to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. The Inter-American human rights system, which has been an essential component of safeguarding human rights in the Americas, is suffering from an overwhelming case load, limited funding and state-led criticism of its role. This conference was a joint effort by lawyers in private practice from North and South America to begin to engage in providing expertise and legal resources to address some of the salient of deficiencies and contribute to the continued vitality of this institution. Todd was also responsible for introducing United States Assistant Secretary of State Jose Fernandez prior to Mr. Fernandez’s remarks to the conference.
