On July 24, 2012, litigation associate Juan A. Arteaga spoke on a panel entitled “Diverse Career Opportunities for Your Law Degree,” which was sponsored by the New York City Bar Association’s Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program. The panel was moderated by Gabrielle Brown, Director of Diversity Initiatives, New York City Bar Association. The other panelists were Richard Best, Director, Department of Enforcement of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority; Tracey Bing, Director, Family Law/Domestic Violence Unit, Manhattan Legal Services; and Linda Green, Building Manager, New York City Department of Education.
The New York City Bar Association’s Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program provides summer legal internships to high-achieving New York City high school students. Since its inception in 1993, the Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program has provided over 2,000 internships to New York City high school students in law firms, corporate law departments, non-profit organizations, government agencies, judicial chambers, and law schools. Simpson Thacher has participated in this program since 1994.
