Corporate associate Sara L. Terheggen was recently recognized for Pro Bono Achievement by Public Counsel for her efforts in helping establish the first ever Public Counsel Small Business Clinic. The clinic is generally held each quarter with the help of associates in the Los Angeles office. The clinic provides a venue by which attorneys can provide corporate legal assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Legal services provided include addressing questions on entity formation, contracts and intellectual property. Founded in 1970, Public Counsel is the public interest law firm of the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations as well as the Southern California affiliate of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Today, it is the largest pro bono law office in the nation, serving 32,000 low-income children, youth, adults and families, as well as eligible community organizations last year.
