Simpson Thacher litigation partner Mike Kibler has been named a recipient of the Burton Award for Legal Achievement for his article “Protecting the Jury Process from Ubiquitous Social Media,” which was published in the December 16, 2011 issue of the Daily Journal. The Burton Awards, which honors the nation’s finest legal writers, is run in association with the Library of Congress Law Library and is funded by the Burton Foundation, a non-profit, academic effort devoted to recognizing and rewarding excellence in the legal profession. Since its inception in 1999, the organization has focused primarily on the refinement and enrichment of legal writing. The awards are selected by an Academic Board led by Virginia Wise, Esq., lecturer at Harvard Law School; Anne E. Kringel, Esq., senior lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School; Grace Tonner, Esq., founding faculty member of the School of Law, University of California, Irvine; Judge Ed Forstenzer, California Superior Court (retired); and William Ryan, member of the Department of Homeland Security.
The 2012 Burton Awards dinner will be held at the Library of Congress on June 11, 2012.
