Simpson Thacher corporate partner Alan Klein is recognized by The American Lawyer as a 2012 "Dealmaker of the Year," which highlights transactional lawyers who worked on some of the most noteworthy and complex deals of the previous year.  He is honored for leading, along with Casey Cogut, the Simpson Thacher team representing Microsoft in connection with its $8.5 billion acquisition of Skype. The transaction was significant due to the rapid three-week turnaround in which the team had to address the concerns of seller’s multiple international shareholders while also undertaking a large-scale global diligence process and managing regulatory issues across multiple jurisdictions.
