Three Latin American transactions in 2011 in which the Firm represented investment banking clients have been honored with “Deal of the Year” awards by Latin Finance.
América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V.’s offering of U.S.$2 billion of 2.375% Senior Notes due 2016 and U.S.$750 million of 6.125% Senior Notes due 2040
This offering was awarded “Best Corporate High-Grade Bond” of 2011. According to Latin Finance, America Movil achieved the lowest-ever coupon for a five-year fixed-rate debt security issued by a Latin American issuer. Simpson Thacher represented the underwriters. Comisión Federal de Electricidad’s offering of U.S.$1 billion of 4.875% Notes due 2021
This offering was awarded “Best Power Financing” of 2011. The offering constituted CFE’s inaugural securities offering in the broader international capital markets. According to Latin Finance, CFE achieved the lowest-ever coupon for a 10-year debt security issued by a Mexican public entity. Simpson Thacher represented the initial purchasers.
