Simpson Thacher is representing L-3 Communications, a leading provider of high technology products, subsystems and systems, in connection with its recently announced $210 million acquisition of the Kollmorgen Electro-Optical unit of Danaher Corporation. KEO is a developer and manufacturer of specialized equipment, including submarine photonics systems and periscopes, ship fire control systems, visual landing aids, ground electro-optical and sensor-cueing systems. The transaction is expected to close during the first quarter of 2012, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
