Simpson Thacher represented SPK Acquisition Limited, a special purpose vehicle owned by the management team of fund of funds manager Edmond de Rothschild Private Equity Select ("Select"), in its acquisition and related financing of a majority interest in Select from La Compagnie Financière Edmond de Rothschild Banque SA, part of the Edmond de Rothschild banking group. The acquisition completed on 14 October 2011.
Select currently manages some €200m of assets across two primary funds of funds and a secondary fund, targeting small European buyout and growth equity funds. Following completion of the acquisition, Select has changed its name to Seligman Private Equity Select.
The Simpson Thacher team representing Select's management included Jason Glover, Gareth Earl and Sam Wilson (Funds London); Euan Gorrie, Antti Pesonen and Alexandria Scott (Credit London).
