Simpson Thacher litigation partner Jonathan Youngwood will co-chair, and litigation partner Joshua Levine will speak at Practising Law Institute’s “Securities Litigation & Enforcement Institute 2011” program on September 20, 2011 in New York.
Mr. Youngwood will give the introduction to the program and will moderate a panel entitled “Today’s Securities Litigation Frontier: Plaintiff and Defense Perspectives,” discussing recent Supreme Court opinions on materiality, class certification and primary liability, foreign issuers sued in the Unites States, Post-Morrison strategies and the future of securities litigation. In addition, Mr. Youngwood will moderate a panel on “Case Management, Settlement, and Mediation Issues in Securities Litigation,” focusing on filing and settlement trends, mediation techniques, the use of experts and D&O liability issues.
Mr. Levine will speak on a panel entitled “Government Initiatives and Perspectives/How to Deal Effectively With the Government,” which will address SEC and DOJ initiatives, defense perspectives on SEC and DOJ actions and strategies for the management of multiple proceedings and internal investigations.
