STB Wins Asylum for Client from The Gambia

On June 20, 2011, Immigration Judge Gabriel C. Videla granted asylum to a Gambian client of the Firm who had been a victim of persecution by internal security and paramilitary forces. The client is a political activist who was repeatedly detained and tortured in The Gambia by government forces and ruling party supporters as a result of her involvement with a leading opposition party. The matter was referred to the Firm by Human Rights First, and the STB team included partner Todd Crider, associates Valentina Casella and Isaac Rethy, summer associate Amanda Sen, and paralegal Jeff Jelineo.
