Exempt Organizations Group Senior Counsel David Shevlin was interviewed for the May 23, 2011 issue of EO Tax Journal by editor Paul Streckfus following the Exempt Organizations (“EO”) Committee of the ABA’s Tax Section meeting in Washington, D.C. At the meeting, Mr. Shevlin spoke on the UBIT Blockers and Private Foundations Q&A panel. The interview discusses a New York EO perspective and provides details about the Firm’s EO group. Mr. Shevlin spoke on two panels at the ALI-ABA 2011 Legal Issues in Museums conference: “Acceptance Policies: Issues and Best Practices” and “Gift Horses, White Elephants, and the Donors Who Send Them: Managing Problem Gifts and/or Problem Donors.” He was quoted in an article in The Art Newspaper entitled “Broken Pledges, Bankrupt Donors and Sharing Works of Art,” which discusses several hot topics from the conference.
