Simpson Thacher Represents Blum Capital Partners in its Investment in Pacific Alliance Group

The Firm represented Blum Capital Partners (“Blum”) in connection with its investment in Pacific Alliance Group Holdings Limited (“Pacific Alliance Group”).  The proceeds of Blum’s investment were used by Pacific Alliance to fund a joint tender offer by Pacific Alliance Group and a company owned by the founders of Secured Capital Japan Co., Ltd. (“SCJ”), a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, for all of the ordinary shares and stock acquisition rights of SCJ not already owned by Pacific Alliance Group.   

Affiliates of Pacific Alliance Group manage investment funds covering private equity, hedge fund, distressed and real estate investments in Asia.  SCJ manages investment funds covering mainly real estate investments in Japan.  Following completion of the subscription and tender offer, Pacific Alliance Group became a holding company for the businesses of the Pacific Alliance Group, SCJ and their respective affiliates and will have over 140 employees in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo.
