Firm and Individual Honors Go Back

Financial Times Recognizes Simpson Thacher for Innovation in its Inaugural US Report

12.02.10

The Financial Times highlighted Simpson Thacher in its US Innovative Lawyers 2010 report, the FT’s first report on the U.S. legal sector. The Firm won praise across three categories, and Lee Meyerson was prominently quoted in the FT’s article accompanying the report describing the "new normal" for the U.S. legal and business sector.

In the Financial Services category, the Firm was highly commended for work advising the U.S. Department of Treasury in the design and implementation of several innovative and effective programs adopted under the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

The Firm’s litigation practice was highly commended for its landmark $110 million jury verdict for Gray Development Group in the Desert Ridge Case, which was recognized for the size of the verdict amid the collapse of the real estate market in Arizona.

The Firm was also commended in the Mergers & Acquisitions category and featured in the accompanying article for its representation of Nets Sports and Entertainment and Forest City Ratner Companies in a complex international investment to secure the Barclays Center, the new Brooklyn arena for the New Jersey Nets.

The US Innovative Lawyers report is a collaboration between the FT, a premier global publication covering international business and politics, and RSG Consulting.  Last year, in the one category of the European report that examined U.S. firms, Simpson Thacher was named the single winner for its work with Treasury on structuring TARP.
