Simpson Thacher Represents Underwriters in $2 Billion Debt Offering by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation

Simpson Thacher represented J.P. Morgan Securities Inc., Barclays Capital Inc. and the other underwriters in Anadarko Petroleum Corporation’s SEC-registered offering of $2.0 billion of 6.375% Senior Notes due 2017.  The offering closed on August 12, 2010. 

Anadarko is one of the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies.  The Company expects to use the proceeds to repay existing indebtedness and for general corporate purposes. 

Simpson Thacher is also representing the lending group that has provided commitments to Anadarko for a $5.0 billion senior secured revolving credit facility expected to close in the third quarter of 2010.
