The Firm represented Mars Drinks North America, LLC (Mars) and its parent company in connection with Mars’ purchase of the global rights to the Alterra® brand and certain other related intellectual property from Alterra Coffee Roasters, Inc. and Alterra Baking Company, LLC (Alterra). The acquired assets will become a key part of Mars’ FLAVIA single-serve coffee, tea and cocoa system. Under the agreement entered into by Mars and Alterra in April 2010, Alterra, which currently maintains a roasting facility and operates nine cafés in the greater Milwaukee area, retains the right to use the brand in their retail and wholesale operations in Wisconsin and Illinois.
