Simpson Thacher Tokyo Represents Managers in Approximately $10.6 billion Offering of Common Stock by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc.

The Tokyo office of the Firm recently represented the underwriters in a global offering of 314,000,000 shares of common stock issued by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc., a joint stock corporation incorporated with limited liability under the laws of Japan. Nikko Cordial Securities Inc., Goldman Sachs International and Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc. were the joint global coordinators. The offering was conducted pursuant to Rule 144A and Regulation S.

 

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group is a holding company that directly owns Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, one of the world’s largest commercial banks, with ¥105 trillion in non-consolidated total assets as of September 30, 2009.
