Simpson Thacher Recognized for Successful Election Protection Program by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP was recognized by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (LCCRUL) as one of the top 12 law firms for its extraordinary contributions to the success of LCCRUL's massive Election Protection Program. Election Protection helps all American voters, including traditionally disenfranchised groups, gain access to the polls and overcome obstacles to voting. The program offers assistance at the national, state and local level and provides live voter protection services for all 50 states. Simpson Thacher contributed to the approximately 44,000 hours in pro bono legal assistance to Election Protection in 2008. The Firm was one of more than 100 firms and corporate legal departments that contributed to the program.
The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (LCCRUL), a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, was formed in 1963 at the request of President John F. Kennedy to involve the private bar in providing legal services to address racial discrimination.
