Simpson Thacher represented the underwriters, led by Goldman, Sachs & Co., J.P. Morgan Securities Inc., Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. and UBS Securities LLC, in a registered public offering by Regions Financial Corporation of $700 million of 7.75% Senior Notes due 2014. The net proceeds of the offering are being used for general corporate purposes. The firm had previously represented certain of the banks in connection with a $2 billion capital raise and concurrent exchange offer by Regions Financial Corporation earlier in the year.

Regions Financial Corporation is the parent company of the ninth largest bank in the United States, Regions Bank, which is based in Birmingham, Alabama.
