Simpson Thacher Represents Placement Agents in $100 Million Debt Offering under Regulation S by Sociedad de Inversiones Oro Blanco S.A.

Simpson Thacher represented Celfin International Limited and Larrain Vial Investment Inc. as placement agents in connection with a US$100 million private placement of 8.5% notes due 2014 by Sociedad de Inversiones Oro Blanco S.A., a Chilean holding company (“Oro Blanco”). The notes were offered and sold outside the United States to non-U.S. investors, pursuant to Regulation S of the Securities Act of 1933.
Oro Blanco indirectly controls Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A., one of world leaders in specialty plant nutrients, iodine and lithium derivatives, among other products. SQM sells its products in more than 100 other countries. Oro Blanco intends to use the proceeds of the offering to repay part of its existing indebtedness.
