Simpson Thacher corporate partner Alan Klein, as co-chair of the Innovations Committee of the Citizens Budget Commission , together with co-chair Walter Harris, presented the Commission's annual Prize for Public Service Innovation on March 3, 2009 at the Commission's annual dinner to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York City Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene Thomas Frieden for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's  Take Care New York program. This program is the first-ever comprehensive citywide health care agenda to address the leading causes of preventable illness and death in the City through evidence-based interventions. U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner also spoke at the dinner.

Founded in 1932, the Citizens Budget Commission is a nonpartisan, nonprofit civic organization devoted to influencing constructive change in the finances and services of New York City and New York State governments.
