Simpson Thacher Secures Victory for USF&G and Travelers

On December 1, 2008, Senior Judge Ann Aldrich of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio granted summary judgment in favor of Firm clients USF&G and Travelers in a long-running asbestos insurance coverage litigation brought by Bondex International, Inc., Republic Powdered Metals, Inc., and RPM, Inc. against several of their other primary and excess insurers. Several of the insurers filed third-party claims against Travelers and USF&G for contribution and indemnification. The Court rejected the plaintiffs' arguments and granted summary judgment in favor of STB's clients and other insurers.
