On Monday, October 6, Simpson Thacher hosted an event co-sponsored by Americans for UNFPA, a non-profit organization that supports the work of the United Nations Population Fund, and inMotion, Inc., an organization that provides free legal services to indigent and working poor women in New York and is a longstanding pro bono client of the Firm.
Litigation partner Libby McGarry introduced the panel, which featured the heads of both organizations, Anika Rahman, Esq. and Catherine J. Douglass, Esq., respectively, as well as Dr. Mathilde Rabary, the founder of SOS Victimes du Non Droit, a legal advocacy center for women in Madagascar. The panel discussed the role of lawyers and activists in helping women secure their legal rights, both here and abroad. Mark Chorazak, a corporate associate, arranged for the Firm to host this interesting event.
