05.29.08

The Pasadena Playhouse production of Michael Chepiga’s play, Matter of Honor, has been nominated for six NAACP Theater Awards (Playwright, Director, Producer, Leading Male Actor, Sound Design, Lighting Design). The awards will be announced at the 18th Annual NAACP Theater Awards ceremony at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles on June 30. This year’s awards ceremony “celebrates the evolution of the portrayal of African Americans in theater, from unrealistic, stereotypical caricatures to a more balanced and honest reflection of the Black experience as a whole.” Other nominees in the Playwright category are Suzan-Lori Parks (Ray Charles Live), John Patrick Shanley (Defiance), Charles Randolph Wright (Cuttin’ Up), and William Inge (Come Back, Little Sheba).
